Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (A-UPRT)
EASA-Approved Upset Prevention & Recovery Training in Hungary
Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (A-UPRT) is a mandatory safety training requirement under EASA regulations for pilots progressing toward Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
At Multifly, A-UPRT is delivered in a structured and scenario-based format, combining advanced theoretical instruction with practical flight training to develop pilots’ ability to recognize, prevent, and recover from aircraft upsets.
A-UPRT is included within Multifly’s All-Inclusive 0 → ATPL Modular Training Program and can also be completed as a standalone course for eligible candidates.
What Is A-UPRT?
A-UPRT prepares pilots to:
- Recognize developing upset conditions
- Prevent loss of control through correct energy and attitude management
- Recover safely from unusual attitudes and flight envelope exceedances
- Improve situational awareness and decision-making under high workload
The training focuses on loss-of-control prevention, which remains one of the leading contributors to aviation accidents worldwide.
Training Structure
A-UPRT training at Multifly consists of theoretical instruction and practical flight training, fully compliant with EASA Part-FCL requirements.
Training Aircraft
Theoretical Instruction
The ground training phase covers:
- Aerodynamic principles related to upsets
- Stall and post-stall aerodynamics
- Energy management and angle of attack awareness
- Human performance and startle effect
- Threat and error management (TEM)
Flight Training
Practical A-UPRT flight training focuses on:
- Recognition of upset scenarios
- Nose-high and nose-low recovery techniques
- Bank angle exceedance recovery
- Stall recognition and recovery
- Energy mismanagement scenarios
All flight exercises are conducted under instructor supervision, with emphasis on safety, situational awareness, and correct recovery techniques.
Typical Duration
Average duration: 2–3 days
Duration depends on weather conditions, aircraft availability, and individual readiness
Hungary’s favorable flying conditions allow A-UPRT training to be completed efficiently within a short timeframe.
Minimum Entry Requirements
To enroll in the A-UPRT Training Program, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
License requirement: Valid EASA PPL(A) or higher
Medical certificate: Valid EASA Class 1 or Class 2 Medical Certificate
Flight experience: Basic aircraft handling competence
English proficiency: Sufficient English for flight training and briefing/debriefing
What Is Included
The A-UPRT training program includes all core elements required to meet EASA requirements.
- EASA-compliant A-UPRT theoretical instruction
- Practical upset prevention and recovery flight training
- Instructor supervision and structured briefings
- Airport-based training environment
Training delivery emphasizes safety culture, correct technique, and confidence under abnormal flight conditions.
A-UPRT Within a Modular Career Path
Advanced UPRT training is a mandatory requirement for:
- Commercial Pilot License (CPL A) issuance
- All-Inclusive 0 → ATPL Modular Training
Completing A-UPRT ensures pilots are prepared for airline-oriented training and advanced multi-crew operations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is A-UPRT mandatory for CPL or ATPL?
A: Yes. A-UPRT is a mandatory requirement under EASA regulations before CPL issuance.
Q: Is A-UPRT included in the All-Inclusive 0 → ATPL program?
A: Yes. A-UPRT training is included within Multifly’s all-inclusive modular training structure.
Q: Does A-UPRT involve aerobatic maneuvers?
A: No. A-UPRT focuses on upset prevention and recovery, not aerobatic flight.
