Single-Engine Instrument Rating (SEIR)

EASA-Approved Instrument Flight Training in Hungary

The Single-Engine Instrument Rating (SEIR) allows pilots to operate single-engine aircraft under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), enabling safe and precise flight in reduced visibility and cloud conditions.

At Multifly, SEIR training is delivered in accordance with EASA Part-FCL requirements within a structured, airport-based operational environment. The rating can be completed as a standalone qualification or as an essential step within a modular pathway toward CPL and ATPL.

What Is the SEIR?

The Single-Engine Instrument Rating authorizes pilots to:

  • Fly under IFR on single-engine aircraft
  • Operate safely in cloud, low visibility, and instrument meteorological conditions
  • Conduct instrument departures, en-route navigation, and precision/non-precision approaches
  • Build a strong foundation for commercial and multi-engine instrument operations

Instrument training significantly enhances situational awareness, procedural discipline, and decision-making skills.

Training Structure

SEIR training at Multifly consists of a total of 50 hours of instrument training, delivered through a combination of advanced simulator sessions and real aircraft flight time, fully compliant with EASA regulations.

35 hours on EASA-approved FNPT II simulator

  • IFR procedures and phraseology
  • Instrument departures (SID), en-route navigation, and arrivals (STAR)
  • Precision and non-precision approaches
  • Abnormal and emergency procedures
  • Scenario-based IFR decision-making

15 hours on IR-certified single-engine aircraft

  • Real-world IFR operations
  • Aircraft handling under instrument conditions
  • Integration of simulator-trained procedures into live flight environment

Theoretical Instruction

  • IFR flight planning and fuel management
  • Instrument navigation systems
  • IFR meteorology
  • Human performance under instrument conditions
  • Operational procedures and decision-making
